If needed\, refer to your member card for additional instructions. \n4-week Open Studio: November 29th—December 27th.  Closed for the holidays on December 24th-25th.   \nCost: $80 for 4 weeks \nWe have created socially distant workstations in the studio for everyone to be able to work safely.  Open Studio is available to patrons 18 and older who have completed a class at ICCGS or an Open Studio Session. \nWe have established the following guidelines utilizing COVID-19 precautions in mind: \n\nMasks are mandatory in the Center\, you must observe all COVID-19 precautions including washing your hands and cleaning your work area. Please do not enter the studio if you are feeling unwell and/or been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.\nThere is a limit of a total of 10Open Studio Patrons in the studio at a time (please see the chart below for the number of people allowed in each area of the studio)\nOne shelf is included in your Open Studio registration. Additional shelf space is available for $10 per session.\nOpen Studio Patrons can call the ICCGS office on Sundays to reserve a workstation (for the entire week through the following Sunday) for 2 hours by calling 319-365-9644. Please note that if you leave a voicemail or send an email\, you are not guaranteed the spot until a ICCGS staff has confirmed your reservation.\nSpace that is not already reserved\, is available on a drop-in basis.\nIf space is available\, patrons are able to stay beyond 2 hours.\nPatrons must give up their space\, if the area is booked by another studio member\, another member is waiting to work\, or reserved for ICCGS programming. Patrons can reserve one workstation in a 24 hours period.\nPatrons must sign in and out of the studio with their name and time.\nOpen Studio Patrons are required to pay for all ceramic firing before work is fired in the kiln. For adult classes\, all students should attend one class per week to ensure that they keep up with the sequential material covered in class. If a class MUST be missed\, no additional makeup classes\, refunds\, or credits for class will be given for missed classes. Private lessons\, for current students\, are available at $30 per hour. \nWhat to wear: Students must wear closed toed shoes for safety and ceramic wheel students should wear clothes they do not mind getting messy. In glass classes full length pants and closed toed shoes are mandatory.  Masks are required at ICCGS. \nCancellation policy: ICCGS reserves the right to cancel sessions due to the minimum enrollment not being met.  In that event\, participants will be notified and credit for a future class/workshop. Credit will be given in the form of a certificate.  Participants may cancel their session for future class credits 72 hours/ 3 days before the class/workshop begins.  No refunds are available.  You may email us at info@iowaCeramicsCenter.org. \nWeather:  In case of inclement weather\, please refer to our Facebook page: Iowa Ceramics Center (www.facebook.com/iowaceramicscenter) for all cancellations.  Your class will be rescheduled at your instructor’s discretion. \nAll classes and workshops are held at: Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio\, located in the NewBo district in the Cherry Building at 329 10th Avenue Southeast in Cedar Rapids\, Iowa.  The center is located on the first floor in Suite 117.  Please enter the building through the 11th Avenue side of the building. \nEnd of Session Policies: Completed and fired work will only be held for 30 days after the end of session. Non-returning students must clear off their shelves by the last class session. This free virtual event will bring together the ceramic community to share information and explore areas of common interest. Local potters and educators will be among the participants in this online event.  This online Zoom conference will be an interactive virtual experience\, with plenty of time for participant’s questions and group discussions.​​​​​​​ This event aims to bring together the often-disparate groups of amateur potters\, professional ceramic artists and students\, to network and to learn from one-another.\n \nPresenters throughout the day include:\n·         Chotsani Elaine Dean\n·         April D Felipe\n·         Norleen Nosri\n·         Deshun Peoples\n·         Joyce St Clair-Voltz\n·         Greg Van Dusseldorp\n·         Lars Voltz\n \nRegistration is free to all who register online. SUMMARY:Beginning Wheel 2.0
DESCRIPTION:This class is an introduction to working with clay on the pottery wheel. Each student will have their own wheel to work with.  Students will refresh and refine their basic wheel throwing skills\, while developing their individual style. This class is intended for beginners to expand on their basic knowledge and continue to develop their throwing skills.
