Participants will dream up their designs\, then using x-acto knives\, you will transfer the designs into the clay to ‘cut away’ your design.  Projects will result in cut outs that will dance on your walls when illuminated with a light or a candle.  Participants may also choose to paint their lanterns using ceramic glazes\, or leave their forms ‘natural clay’.  The options are endless! \nDate: This class is more about the process of working with clay on the wheel than a specific project. Great for kids and adults who are interested in developing a set of skills for working with clay. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. Projects will then be dried on our shelves and fired in the kiln\, then coated with a white glaze and fired again. Your finished projects will be available for pickup 3 weeks later at ICCGS. This class is all about the experience and learning how to work with the pottery wheel. This is a great way for kids and parents alike who are interested in working with clay to experience it firsthand. Minimum age is 9 years old. Brewing Co. are excited to host another workshop at Lion Bridge Brewing’s Tap Room. \nParticipants will be crafting a clay stein\, that has been created for the workshops by artists at the Center will add a decorative or functional handle and then decorate the outside of the stein however you like! Participants will then paint their steins using special ceramic glazes. Projects will then be taken back to ICCGS to dry and then coated with a special clear glaze and firedtwice in their kilns. excited to host another workshop at the historic Brucemore Mansion. \nIn this workshop\, participants will build their own unique witch’s hat using various hand-building techniques. Once the hat is the perfect size and shape\, participants can add spook-tacular decorations to their creations with colored glazes and various textures. \nThis workshop is hosted in the Brucemore Carriage House. All instructions and materials are provided during the workshop. Following the workshop\, the instructor will take the projects to the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio for firing in their kiln. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. Projects will then be dried on our shelves and fired in the kiln\, then coated with a white glaze and fired again.
