DESCRIPTION:Discover the beauty of clay in this special collaboration between Brucemore and the Iowa Ceramics Center & Glass Studio! \nIn this hands-on workshop\, you’ll create your own one-of-a-kind clay peony. Our experienced instructor will guide you step-by-step through the process\, teaching you how to pull\, shape\, and refine clay into delicate\, lifelike petals. Watch your flower come to life as each layer builds into a stunning\, dimensional bloom. While this project invites patience and focus\, the end result is a truly unique piece you’ll be proud to display. \nThe workshop will take place in the historic Brucemore Carriage House\, with all materials\, tools\, and instruction provided. After the workshop\, your piece will be transported to the Iowa Ceramics Center & Glass Studio\, where it will be professionally kiln-fired and glazed\, resulting in a vibrant\, finished peony ready to hang on your wall. \nRegistration is required by May 27 at 5:00 PM to reserve your spot.Cost: $50 per project \nWhat to Know Before You Go: \n\nSpace is limited and workshops often sell out—advance registration is required.\nRecommended for ages 12 and up. SUMMARY:Mobile Event at Eastern Iowa Arts Academy-- Glass Plant Stakes
DESCRIPTION:We’re so excited to partner with Eastern Iowa Arts Academy (EIAA) to expand our mobile programming with access to ceramics and warm glass education in our community! This spring we’ll be offering multiple hands-on workshops for youth and adults at EIAA\, with our first warm glass class on March 28th. \n\nJoin us for a hands-on class at EIAA where you’ll design and create a vibrant fused-glass plant stake—the perfect way to show off your style in your favorite planter or outdoor space. Using an array of colorful glass pieces\, you’ll create and build your own stunning\n2”x8′′ glass artwork that stands out amongst the greenery. We will even attach a metal stake to the back to easily get it into the ground too! \nNo experience needed! ICCGS’s Instructor will guide you step-by-step\, and all materials are included. You will learn to cut small pieces of glass to create a design of your choice. Participants will create their snow gnome by using pinch pot techniques to assemble their own unique gnome. Put it in the garden in the Spring! Finished projects will measure approximate 4”x4”. special programming including quarterly “Creative Coffee” Saturday. \nThese Saturday mornings are a time for Friends of the Center to bring a piece you recently made and share with the group.  We will have a creative conversation over coffee with our community\, all events are from 9-10am. \nJoin us on October 19th with Mary!
