Come in after a long work week and be creative. \nGather your friends and/or partner and join us for a fun Friday Night Out on the wheel—for 21 and over only.  Participants may BYOB.  This workshop features in-depth demonstrations and teaches you the following steps: how to center clay on the wheel and how to pull a small form (cups or bowls). This class is more about the process of working with clay on the wheel than a specific project.  Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. This class is all about the experience and learning how to work with the pottery wheel—and having fun. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. Projects will then be dried on our shelves and fired in the kiln\, then coated with a white glaze and fired again. Your finished projects will be available for pickup 3 weeks later at ICCGS. \nThis class is all about the experience and learning how to work with the pottery wheel. This is a great way for kids and parents alike who are interested in working with clay to experience it firsthand. Minimum age is 9 years old. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. Projects will then be dried on our shelves and fired in the kiln\, then coated with a white glaze and fired again. This class is more about the process of working with clay on the wheel than a specific project. Great for kids and adults who are interested in developing a set of skills for working with clay. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. Projects will then be dried on our shelves and fired in the kiln\, then coated with a white glaze and fired again. Your finished projects will be available for pickup 3 weeks later at ICCGS. \nThis class is all about the experience and learning how to work with the pottery wheel. Glass Ornaments will also be fired in our kilns to smooth all the edges. DESCRIPTION:[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”4.16″ global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.16″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ custom_padding=”|||” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.18.0″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” link_option_url_new_window=”on” global_colors_info=”{}”] \nOur Santa’s Workshop series returns for 2022!\nBeginning November 19th\, a workshop will be held every Saturday and Sunday from 11am-12pm through December 18th.\nWe invite you to come in and decorate a variety of pre-made Holiday Projects to celebrate the holiday season.  All projects are handmade by our Resident Artists and bisque fired\, making them ready for your own decorations–using our glazes/paints.  There is no pre-registration\, this workshop is for walk-ins only.  You can choose to decorate your project in our classroom\, or take it home and return it to us later for firing.\nAll clay projects will then be clear coated and fired in our kilns. Glass Ornaments will also be fired in our kilns to smooth all the edges. Projects will be ready for pickup exactly 2 weeks later.\nProjects are limited and you will choose from a variety of project options including (while quantities last):\n\n\n\nSANTA’S WORKSHOP PROJECT OPTIONS\nDESCRIPTION\nCOST\n\n\nGlass Tree Ornament\nEach hand cut glass tree measures approximately 2.5″ – 3″. Using glass balls and small colored pieces of glass\, you will create your unique tree ornament.   We will add a hanger to the back of your glass ornament for ease in hanging.\n$18\n\n\nCeramic Holiday Ornaments (set of 2)\nEach 2 piece set Includes: Reindeer & Gingerbread Person\n$20\n\n\nCeramic Holiday Ornaments (set of 4)\nEach 4 piece set will include: Reindeer\, Santa\, Holiday Tree & Gingerbread Person\n$35\n\n\nCeramic Mug\nOur Resident Artists have created mugs with handles on the wheel. All mugs are approximately 4”- 5”\n$30\n\n\nCeramic Stein\nOur Resident Artists have created steins with handles on the wheel. All steins are approximately 5”- 6”\n$35\n\n\nClay Tree Luminary\nOur Resident Artists have created cone shapes on the wheel to resemble a pine tree. All material is provided to complete your projects along with detailed instruction sheets.  All projects (except for the glass ornaments) are premade by our Resident Artists and bisque fired in our kilns\, no two are exactly the same.  After you have finished decorating your project in the classroom (or at home)\, all clay projects will then be clear coated with glaze and fired kilns. Glass Ornaments will also be fired in our kilns to smooth all the edges. \nLocation: The Santa’s Workshop at the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio (ICCGS)\, which is located on the first floor of in the historic Cherry Building in Cedar Rapids. \nPurchase: There is no pre-registration\, you will be able to choose from a variety of projects\, payable on the day of the workshop. You can choose to decorate your project in our classroom\, or take it home and return it to us later for firing. \nProjects will be ready for pickup exactly 2 weeks later. Please note that participants will not be called or emailed to be reminded to pick up their work. All work left on our shelves after January 31st will be recycled. \nWhat to wear: Students should wear clothes they do not mind getting glaze on.
