SUMMARY:Soda Firing Wadding Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Soda Kiln Wadding Workshop \nDate: Saturday\, September 7th\nTime: 9-10 AM\nInstructor: Rick Tibbott \nDescription: New for 2024\, all Soda Firing Participants MUST attend a Wadding workshop for soda firing dates. This mandatory workshop is intended for currently enrolled students who would like to have work fired an upcoming Soda Firing. \nA Soda Firing will produce different effects than our standard High Fire firings. The results are more atmospheric due to the amount of soda ash introduced into the kiln at the top firing temperature. However\, this advanced firing technique takes additional preparation and staff hours. In this workshop you will learn about wadding techniques for the ICCGS soda kiln. All artists are required to wad their work for the soda kiln and need to take this workshop to fire in the ICCGS soda kiln. \nParticipants must be currently enrolled in the session. \nCOMMUNITY SODA PREPARATION POLICY: \n1- Participants must participate in at least one Soda firing-related workshop to understand the preparation and loading processes offered by ICCGS\, in order to have their work fired in the Soda Kilns. \n2- Participants will add wadding to their own pieces to help save time. Wadding is available two weeks before the firing. All wadding must be completed one day before the loading date\, at most the week before. \nLink to the soda kiln policy: \nhttps://iowaceramicscenter.square.site/kiln-policies \nAll classes and workshops are held at: Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio\, located in the NewBo district in the Cherry Building at 329 10th Avenue Southeast in Cedar Rapids\, Iowa.  The center is located on the first floor in Suite 117.  Please enter the building through the 10th Avenue side of the building. \nClick here to register
