SUMMARY:Saturday Workshop: Animal Pinch Pot
DESCRIPTION:Saturday Workshop: Animal Pinch Pots\nA favorite workshop every year! Using various hand building techniques\, participants will  create a useful Animal Pinch Pot.  Create your project using pinch techniques and then and all the details to bring the animal to life.  Participants will then glaze (paint) with colors. Projects will then be dried on our shelves and fired in the kiln\, then they will be coated with a special clear glaze and fired again.  Your finished 4”x4” project will be available for pickup 3 weeks later at ICCGS. \nDate: Saturday\, June 8th \nTime: 1:00-2:30 PM \nCost: $25.00/person \nRegister \nOur workshops are intended for all ages\, pre-registration is required and space is limited. \nKids ages 8 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult. Students’ work will be available for pickup 3 weeks after the end of their session/workshop. SUMMARY:Wheel Try It Saturday--SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:Our most popular workshop featuring in-depth demonstrations.  This class will teach you the following steps: how to center clay on the wheel\, and how to pull a small form (cups or bowls). This class is more about the process of working with clay on the wheel than a specific project. Great for kids and adults who are interested in developing a set of skills for working with clay. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. Projects will then be dried on our shelves and fired in the kiln\, then coated with a white glaze and fired again. Your finished projects will be available for pickup 3 weeks later at ICCGS. This class is all about the experience and learning how to work with the pottery wheel. This is a great way for kids and parents alike who are interested in working with clay to experience it firsthand. Minimum age is 9 years old. All skill levels welcome. \nDate: Saturday\, June 8th \nTime: 10:30 AM–12:15 PM \nCost: $40.00/person \nRegister \nPre-registration online is required for classes and most workshops.  Kids ages 8 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult.  Students’ work will be available for pickup 3 weeks after the end of their session/workshop. DESCRIPTION:Clay Techniques: June Pinch\, Coil and Slab\n4 WEEKS\nClay Techniques: June Pinch\, Coil and Slab–4 weeks \nIn this hand building class\, students will be introduced to clay techniques to create projects. \nWeek 1: Pinch Planter \nWeek 2:Slab Plates \nWeek 3:underglazes/surface decoration \nWeek 4: glazing \nStudents are encouraged to utilize our open studio time to continue to explore each technique.   \n Ages 18+. This class is for individuals of all skill levels.  \nDate:Thursdays\, June 5th–June 26th \nTime:6:00-7:45 pm \nCost: $105- 4 weeks \nInstructor: Alex Schmiechen \nRegister \nClass Policies & Procedures \nThe fee for one session provides for the following (unless otherwise specified): Studio Policies and Procedures can be found at this LINK. \n\nFor clay classes\, tuition includes class instruction\, open studio access\, access to glazes and shelf space.  Clay Students are responsible for purchasing clay and all firing costs\nFor Glass classes\,tuition includes class instruction\, open studio access\, basic materials (use of frits\, stringers\, noodles) and 18” shelf space.  Glass Students are responsible for purchasing glass and all firing costs.\nClay and Glass Students are responsible for purchasing clay\, glass\, personal tools (if desired) and all firing costs via our supply store LINK. Firing costs range by size (a 5-inch cup is approximately $5.00 to fire).  All firing should be paid online\, prior to firing\, via our payment system.\nFor Open Studio access\, students are required to adhere to ICCGS Open Studio Policies\n\nWaiver of Liability: In signing up for this class/workshop you understand that there are certain dangers\, hazards\, and risks inherent in working in a Ceramic and Glass Studio. In addition\, by putting items in our kilns\, you understand that there are intrinsic risks to the firing process\, and projects may get damaged. \nMake-up Policy: ICCGS is not responsible for changes in students’ personal schedules. For adult classes\, all students should attend their one scheduled class per week to ensure that they keep up with the sequential material covered in class. If a class MUST be missed\, no additional makeup classes\, refunds\, or credits for class will be given for missed classes. Private lessons\, for current ceramic students\, are available at $35 per hour. \nAge Requirements: All students in 4-8 week classes must be 18 years of age at the time of their session. For individuals between the ages of 14-17\, an adult registered in the same class may accompany them as their supervisor. For Open Studio time outside of class time\, individuals must be 18 years of age to work in the studio unaccompanied. \nWhat to wear: Students must wear closed toed shoes for safety and ceramic wheel students should wear clothes they do not mind getting messy. In glass classes full length pants and closed toed shoes are mandatory. \nCancellation Policy: ICCGS reserves the right to cancel sessions due to the minimum enrollment not being met. In that event\, participants will be notified and credited for a future class/workshop. Credit will be given in the form of a voucher (to be used only for future classes/workshops). Participants may cancel their session for future class credits no less than 7 days/ 1 week before the class/workshop is scheduled to begin. No refunds are available. Gather your friends and/or partner and join us for a fun Friday Night Out—for 21 and over only. Participants may BYOB. \nJoin us for a new glass project\, perfect for summer!. Participants will create a 1.5 foot long rectangular garden stake\, from pieces of glass. Learn to cut and piece together glass into a beautiful garden stake. We will fire your piece in the kiln\, and then attach it to a metal stake. Your finished project will measure 1.5 feet by 2” wide. Project will be available for pickup 3 weeks later at ICCGS. \nDate: Friday\, May 24th \nTime: 6:30 – 8:30pm \nCost: $70.00/person \nRegister \nFriday Nights Out at ICCGS!  21 years and older.  Join us in the studio for a fun project. Students will learn basic trimming for cylinders and bowls\, as well as learning to throw bowls. By the end of the course each student will have completed several pieces\, learned proper studio etiquette and have developed basic skills to continue in ceramics. For Ages 18+. The prerequisite for this course is Intro To Pottery. Students must have sufficient skills in throwing a cylinder. Firing costs range by size (a 5-inch cup is approximately $5.00 to fire).  All firing should be paid online\, prior to firing\, via our payment system.\nFor Open Studio access\, students are required to adhere to ICCGS Open Studio Policies\n\nWaiver of Liability: In signing up for this class/workshop you understand that there are certain dangers\, hazards\, and risks inherent in working in a Ceramic and Glass Studio. If tools and/or equipment are used improperly\, they can cause personal injury. ICCGS does not assume responsibility for any such personal injury or property damage including stolen personal items while on the property. In addition\, by putting items in our kilns\, you understand that there are intrinsic risks to the firing process\, and projects may get damaged. \nMake-up Policy: ICCGS is not responsible for changes in students’ personal schedules. For adult classes\, all students should attend their one scheduled class per week to ensure that they keep up with the sequential material covered in class. If a class MUST be missed\, no additional makeup classes\, refunds\, or credits for class will be given for missed classes. Private lessons\, for current ceramic students\, are available at $35 per hour. \nAge Requirements: All students in 4-8 week classes must be 18 years of age at the time of their session. For individuals between the ages of 14-17\, an adult registered in the same class may accompany them as their supervisor. For Open Studio time outside of class time\, individuals must be 18 years of age to work in the studio unaccompanied. \nWhat to wear: Students must wear closed toed shoes for safety and ceramic wheel students should wear clothes they do not mind getting messy. In glass classes full length pants and closed toed shoes are mandatory. \nCancellation Policy: ICCGS reserves the right to cancel sessions due to the minimum enrollment not being met. In that event\, participants will be notified and credited for a future class/workshop. Credit will be given in the form of a voucher (to be used only for future classes/workshops). Using various hand building techniques\, participants will  create a decorative Garden Gnome.  Create and add all the details and then glaze (paint) with colors to bring it to life. This class is more about the process of working with clay on the wheel than a specific project. Great for kids and adults who are interested in developing a set of skills for working with clay. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. Projects will then be dried on our shelves and fired in the kiln\, then coated with a white glaze and fired again. Your finished projects will be available for pickup 3 weeks later at ICCGS. This class is all about the experience and learning how to work with the pottery wheel. This is a great way for kids and parents alike who are interested in working with clay to experience it firsthand. Minimum age is 9 years old. Gather your friends and/or partner and join us for a fun Friday Night Out—for 21 and over only.  Participants may BYOB.  \nThis is a 2-hour wheel throwing workshop. In this class\, we will assist you in learning how to center the clay on the wheel and how to create cups and bowls\, with in-depth demonstrations. Students will get an introduction to decoration\, glazing\, and have the opportunity to finish their work. We encourage students to take this class 2-3 times to build on these fundamental skills. For Ages 18+. This class is for individuals with little to no experience. Firing costs range by size (a 5-inch cup is approximately $5.00 to fire).  All firing should be paid online\, prior to firing\, via our payment system.\nFor Open Studio access\, students are required to adhere to ICCGS Open Studio Policies\n\nWaiver of Liability: In signing up for this class/workshop you understand that there are certain dangers\, hazards\, and risks inherent in working in a Ceramic and Glass Studio. If tools and/or equipment are used improperly\, they can cause personal injury. ICCGS does not assume responsibility for any such personal injury or property damage including stolen personal items while on the property. In addition\, by putting items in our kilns\, you understand that there are intrinsic risks to the firing process\, and projects may get damaged. \nMake-up Policy: ICCGS is not responsible for changes in students’ personal schedules. For adult classes\, all students should attend their one scheduled class per week to ensure that they keep up with the sequential material covered in class. If a class MUST be missed\, no additional makeup classes\, refunds\, or credits for class will be given for missed classes. Private lessons\, for current ceramic students\, are available at $35 per hour. \nAge Requirements: All students in 4-8 week classes must be 18 years of age at the time of their session. For individuals between the ages of 14-17\, an adult registered in the same class may accompany them as their supervisor. For Open Studio time outside of class time\, individuals must be 18 years of age to work in the studio unaccompanied. \nWhat to wear: Students must wear closed toed shoes for safety and ceramic wheel students should wear clothes they do not mind getting messy. In glass classes full length pants and closed toed shoes are mandatory. \nCancellation Policy: ICCGS reserves the right to cancel sessions due to the minimum enrollment not being met. In that event\, participants will be notified and credited for a future class/workshop. Credit will be given in the form of a voucher (to be used only for future classes/workshops). This class is more about the process of working with clay on the wheel than a specific project. Great for kids and adults who are interested in developing a set of skills for working with clay. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. Projects will then be dried on our shelves and fired in the kiln\, then coated with a white glaze and fired again. Your finished projects will be available for pickup 3 weeks later at ICCGS. This class is all about the experience and learning how to work with the pottery wheel. This is a great way for kids and parents alike who are interested in working with clay to experience it firsthand. Minimum age is 9 years old. First\, Leslie Wright\, the director of Prairiewoods\, will talk about the significance of labyrinths. Then an instructor from ICCGS will walk you through creating your very own labyrinth with slabs of wet clay by designing and carving a unique path for your finger to trace. This class is more about the process of working with clay on the wheel than a specific project. Great for kids and adults who are interested in developing a set of skills for working with clay. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. Projects will then be dried on our shelves and fired in the kiln\, then coated with a white glaze and fired again. Your finished projects will be available for pickup 3 weeks later at ICCGS. This class is all about the experience and learning how to work with the pottery wheel. For glass safety\, participants must wear pants that cover their thighs and closed toe shoes. Gather your friends and/or partner and join us for a fun Friday Night Out—for 21 and over only.  Participants may BYOB.  \nThis is a 2-hour wheel throwing workshop. In this class\, we will assist you in learning how to center the clay on the wheel and how to create cups and bowls\, with in-depth demonstrations. This class is more about the process of working with the wheel than a specific project. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls.
