We will cover a wide variety of forms such as: nesting bowls\, narrow necked vases\, a large serving dish\, cookie jars\, and pitchers. Students will be encouraged to throw with a few more pounds of clay than they usually do\, and are encouraged to build up gradually. This class is an exploration into how to make large forms that can be incorporated into everyday life. In this class\, we will assist you in learning how to center the clay on the wheel and how to create cups and bowls\, with in-depth demonstrations. This class is more about the process of working with the wheel than a specific project. Great for kids and adults who are interested in developing a set of skills for working with clay. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. \nThis class is all about the experience and learning how to work with the pottery wheel.  This is a great way for kids and parents alike who are interested in working with clay to experience it firsthand.  Minimum age is 9 years old. In this class\, we will assist you in learning how to center the clay on the wheel and how to create cups and bowls\, with in-depth demonstrations. This class is more about the process of working with the wheel than a specific project. Great for kids and adults who are interested in developing a set of skills for working with clay. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. \nThis class is all about the experience and learning how to work with the pottery wheel.  This is a great way for kids and parents alike who are interested in working with clay to experience it firsthand.  Minimum age is 9 years old. This class is intended for student’s previous clay experience. \nDate: Tuesdays\, January 7th – February 25th \nTime: 10:15am – 12:00 \nCost: $160.00 \nInstructor: Max Haugh-Ewald \n[/et_pb_text][et_pb_button button_url=”https://theceramicscenter.secure.force.com/events/CnP_PaaS_EVT__ExternalRegistrationPage?event_id=a0J0W00000d4ZYYUA2″ url_new_window=”on” button_text=”Register” admin_label=”Class Registration” _builder_version=”3.26.5″ custom_margin=”||50px|||”][/et_pb_button][et_pb_text admin_label=”For All Clay Classes” _builder_version=”3.26.5″ global_module=”4733″ saved_tabs=”all”] \nFor all Clay Classes:\n\n\nBring a small bucket\, towel\, and pottery tool kit* to class. \n\n\nTuition includes: open studio time\, 36″ shelf space and some firing costs. \n\n\nNOTES:\n\n\n*Pottery tool kits as well as additional clay and glass supplies may be purchased at the Ceramics Center. \n\n\nUnless otherwise noted\, class participants may be charged firing fees for extra work made during the session. \n\n\nClass Policies & Procedures\nThe fee for one session of classes provides for the following (unless otherwise specified) \n\nInstruction during your class time.\nUnlimited studio time during business hours (to be used by the end of your session).\nA storage shelf for your work and supplies.\nFiring allotment for pieces made for class.\n\nMake-up Policy \niCCGS is not responsible for changes in students’ personal schedules. For adult classes\, all students should attend one class per week to ensure that they keep up with the sequential material covered in class.  If a class MUST be missed\, no additional makeup classes\, refunds\, or credits for class will be given for missed classes.  Private lessons\, for current students\, are available at $30 per hour. \nCancellation policy:  \nICCGS reserves the right to cancel sessions due to the minimum enrollment not being met.  In that event\, participants will be notified and refunds will be given.  Participants may cancel their session for a full refund\, minus $5.00 for processing fees 72 hours/ 3 days before the class begins.  Please email us at info@iowaCeramicsCenter.org about your cancellation.  If a student contacts us after the 72-hour deadline\, a refund will not be provided. \nAll classes and workshops are held at:  \nIowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio\, located in the NewBo district in the Cherry Building at 329 10th Avenue Southeast in Cedar Rapids\, Iowa.  The center is located on the first floor in Suite 117 \nEnd of Session Policies \nNon-returning students must clear off their shelves by the last class session. Any work or personal items found on shelves of students who have not re-registered for class will become property of the studio to be recycled or thrown away as we re-assign shelves to new incoming students. \n[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
