ICCGS\nDescription: The New Stanley Museum is rebuilt after 15 years since the flood of 2008. The $50 million state-of-the Art facility houses an incredible world-class collection of art. The crown jewel of the collection is Jackson Pollock’s “Mural” gifted to the U of I Museum in 1951 by the famed art collector Peggy Guggenheim. After the flood it went to the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles for several years of conservation efforts. Then it traveled over 20\,000 miles to museums around the world. This one piece is worth the trip to Iowa City. However the ceramics collection is just as impressive and is what the members of the Center will enjoy the most. With works by major ceramist such as\, Robert Arneson\, Peter Voulkos\, Jun Kaneko and Maria Martinez. In addition to a large collection of African and native American work. \nLong time studio member\, past Board member and future Stanley Docent\, Alan Harrington\, has organized a tour for students and friends of the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio. Registration is required to join us for this free tour in Iowa City on the University of Iowa main campus. The Museum designs tours to engage and spark your curiosity! We think you’ll leave your tour with a sense of excitement and inspiration! It will be creative and fun. \nWe are so excited to host this special tour with the ICCGS \nDate: Sunday\, June 4th \nTime: Participants should meet in the lobby at 2:45pm for a 3:00pm-3:45pm tour.
