SUMMARY:Wheel Try It Saturday--SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:Our most popular workshop featuring in-depth demonstrations.  This class will teach you the following steps: how to center clay on the wheel\, and how to pull a small form (cups or bowls). This class is more about the process of working with clay on the wheel than a specific project. Great for kids and adults who are interested in developing a set of skills for working with clay. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. Projects will then be dried on our shelves and fired in the kiln\, then coated with a white glaze and fired again. Your finished projects will be available for pickup 3 weeks later at ICCGS. This class is all about the experience and learning how to work with the pottery wheel. This is a great way for kids and parents alike who are interested in working with clay to experience it firsthand. Minimum age is 9 years old. All skill levels welcome. \nDate: Saturday\, June 8th \nTime: 10:30 AM–12:15 PM \nCost: $40.00/person \nRegister \nPre-registration online is required for classes and most workshops.  Kids ages 8 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult.  Students’ work will be available for pickup 3 weeks after the end of their session/workshop. SUMMARY:Friday Night Out: Glass Wind Chime--SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:Friday Night Out: Glass Wind Chime \nCome in after a long week\, get creative\, and learn a new warm glass technique! Gather your friends and/or partner and join us for a fun Friday Night Out—for 21 and over only. Participants may BYOB. \nIn this Friday Night Out\, participants will choose their glass to create a beautiful glass wind chime.  Using warm glass techniques\, participants will cut and assemble glass to create the components of their one-of-a-kind wind chime.   Projects will then be fired and assembled into a chime.  All chimes will be available for pickup 3 weeks later.  This workshop is for ages 21+.  For glass safety\, participants must wear pants that cover their thighs and closed-toe shoes. \nDate: Friday\, June 14th \nTime: 6:30 PM–8:00 PM \nCost: $50/person \nRegister \nFriday Nights Out at ICCGS!  21 years and older.  Join us in the studio for a fun project. SUMMARY:Artist Workshop with Karen Moorhead: Creating with Texture Mats--SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, Karen will demonstrate her hand-building techniques of slab-building primary forms with textured slabs. Her technique helps to keep textures intact while building unique shapes like bottles and trays. In the second half of the workshop\, Karen will demonstrate pulling a textured mat to gain the best impression. She will also show students how to create their textured mats\, including what materials to use for best impressions and how to develop a composition of your textured mat. Each student will have the opportunity to create two 10” x 10” textured mats. \nDate:  Saturday\, June 22 \nTime: 9:30 am – 2:00 pm \nCost: $50/person (2024 Friends of the Center get a 10% discount \nWorkshop Outline: \n9:30 – 11:30 – Building with Textured Slabs\, Tips and tricks to building cleanly with textures. \n11:30 – 12:00 – Lunch Break \n12:00 – 2:00-  Hands On : Creating Texture Mats.  Each participant will create two 10 x 10 inch textured mats and learn how to use the mats effectively. \nAbout the Instructor: Karen Moorhead received BFA in Metals from Drake University\, and has been working in clay for over 17 years! With an eye for detail\, precision\, and a love for nature\, Karen’s work captures her background as a metal smith and her appreciation for the natural world. A long time studio member\, we are so excited to have Karen teach her techniques! \nStudents will need to bring: notebook\, items to press into clay for the texture slab (such as flowers leaves\, items will be pressed into the ½ slab of clay) \nStudents will receive: Supplies to create 2 of their own texture mats (10” x 10”).  ICCGS will provide all tools.  Mats will be bisqued fired and ready for pick up 2 weeks later. \nRegister \nPre-registration online is required for classes and most workshops.  Kids ages 8 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult.  Students’ work will be available for pickup 3 weeks after the end of their session/workshop.
