The Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio of Cedar Rapids, Iowa is pleased to host ‘Midwest Clay Online’. This free virtual event will bring together the ceramic community to share information and explore areas of common interest. Local potters and educators will be among the participants in this online event. This online Zoom conference will be an interactive virtual experience, with plenty of time for participant’s questions and group discussions. This event aims to bring together the often-disparate groups of amateur potters, professional ceramic artists and students, to network and to learn from one-another.

Registration is free to all who register online. The conference will begin at 9:15 am via Zoom and end at approximately 2:30 pm. Please see the conference schedule below. The event and will feature various presentations and speakers throughout the day. Participants can enjoy the Zoom conference in its entirety, or choose to only login for various speakers throughout the day. After completion of your online registration, you will later receive an email with information that includes the Zoom link for the event. When you receive this information, please be sure to save this document on your computer so you can reference it on October 10th.

A presentation followed by open discussion with attendees of personal experiences and the educational ceramic offerings that community studios, college, and craft schools provide.

11:00 AM Pellagama: The Dusseldorp Experience
Iowa has a strong community of ceramic artists who woodfire. Greg Van Dusseldorp has held firings at his wood kiln in Pella, Iowa with professionals and students. At 10:45AM Greg will join the conversation with Joyce and Lars to share his ceramic and wood firing experience.
