Basic Pate de Verre (Paste of Glass)
Pâte de verre is an ancient glass casting technique using finely crushed glass mixed with a binder packed into negative molds and kiln fired to create sculptural objects with subtle luminosity. The technique allows the artist to control color placement, shading and degree of translucency unique to this casting process.
In this workshop, you will create a bowl using the glass paste. Using a premade mold, you will desing your unique bowl using clear frit mixed with colored glass powders. This will allow a wide range of possibilities. The final piece will be a 4” x 4” nonfunctional bowl.
All materials, tools and firing cost will be provided. Finished piece will be ready for pick-up on October 27.
Prerequisites: No glass experience required. Ages 16 and over.
Limit to 12 participants.
