Mobile Event at Brucemore: Clay Peony Wall Hanging
Discover the beauty of clay in this special collaboration between Brucemore and the Iowa Ceramics Center & Glass Studio!
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll create your own one-of-a-kind clay peony. Our experienced instructor will guide you step-by-step through the process, teaching you how to pull, shape, and refine clay into delicate, lifelike petals. Watch your flower come to life as each layer builds into a stunning, dimensional bloom. While this project invites patience and focus, the end result is a truly unique piece you’ll be proud to display.
The workshop will take place in the historic Brucemore Carriage House, with all materials, tools, and instruction provided. After the workshop, your piece will be transported to the Iowa Ceramics Center & Glass Studio, where it will be professionally kiln-fired and glazed, resulting in a vibrant, finished peony ready to hang on your wall.
Registration is required by May 27 at 5:00 PM to reserve your spot.
Cost: $50 per project
What to Know Before You Go:
- Space is limited and workshops often sell out—advance registration is required.
- Recommended for ages 12 and up. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Workshop duration is approximately 2 hours.
- Finished pieces will be available for pickup at the Iowa Ceramics Center & Glass Studio about three weeks after the workshop.
Arrival Information:
- Enter through the gate at 2160 Linden Dr. SE, Cedar Rapids.
- Follow posted signs to the Carriage House, where parking is available.
- Check in with Brucemore staff upon arrival.
